The Ile-de-France Region, Choose Paris Region, Groupe ADP, Air France-KLM and Airbus are launching an unprecedented call for expressions of interest (AMI) to explore the opportunities offered by hydrogen at ÃŽle-de-France airports and meet the challenge of decarbonising air transport activities. This call for expressions of international interest is part of the energy transition strategy, initiated in France and supported by the European Commission, which will continue with the arrival of the zero-emission aircraft announced for 2035. Aware that the advent of hydrogen will upset the way in which airport infrastructures are designed and operated, the partners want to anticipate and support the changes which should make it possible to transform Parisian airports into veritable "hydrogen hubs".------------------------------------------------------------------- The call for expressions of international interest - launched with the support of the Choose Paris Region agency, in charge of the attractiveness and international promotion of the ÃŽle-de-France region - aims to build a powerful airport ecosystem and to federate, around hydrogen, large groups, mid-size companies / SMEs, start-ups, as well as the academic world and that of research. The five partners share a common ambition to identify and qualify advances in research and technologies, then to test economically viable solutions that will meet the uses of hydrogen at an airport in order to prepare for it, in the medium in the long term, distribution and use on a larger scale, in particular with a view to accommodating the future hydrogen aircraft. NEW IN THE AIR TRANSPORT INDUSTRY THIS CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST IS STRUCTURED AROUND THREE THEMES :----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #tStorage, transport and distribution of hydrogen (gas and liquid) in airports (storage systems, micro-liquefaction, aircraft refueling, etc.);------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ #the diversification of the uses of hydrogen in the airport and aeronautical fields (ground-handling vehicles and equipment, rail transport at airports, energy supply to buildings or planes during ground-handling operations, etc.); #the circular economy around hydrogen (recovery of the hydrogen dissipated during liquid hydrogen refueling, upgrading of a by-product of a reaction to produce carbon-free hydrogen, etc.). Applications will be open from February 11 to March 19, 2021, via the h2hubairport.com site and the selected projects will be announced at the end of April. Source: region Ile de France
